Cascade Events
Cascade Canoe & Kayak Race Team Open House Do you like being on the water, being part of a team competing in individual and multi-person events. The 4th largest Olympic sport, Canoe/Kayak racing combines skill, teamwork, endurance and strength in single, double and four-person boats. With this life-long sport, we strive to help you develop your physical capacities, as well as learn important life skills such as love of sport and exercise, goal setting, discipline, and passion for life. Lifelong friendships are formed, experiences are shared, and character is built. Youth Program Is your child looking for a great aquatic sport that offers individual achievement as well as the benefits of participating on a team? The Cascade Canoe & Kayak Racing Team is currently accepting new paddlers and will hold a free Open House on Saturday, June 18 at 2 pm. While the ability to swim 50 yards and comfort in the water are prerequisites, no paddling experience is required, so come join in on the fun! The City of Renton boathouse is located in the Cedar River Trail Park at the south end of Lake Washington. Join us for a short paddle, a burger, hot dog or veggie alternative with the team while we get to know each other and answer any questions you might have about our program. Last but not least don’t forget to bring a change of clothes in case your kids get wet! Adult Program Do you enjoy kayaking or canoeing and would like to develop your skills, improve your fitness, exercise a competitive spirit in citizen-level regattas and join a great group of adults for social activities, then the Cascade Adult Racing Team is for you. 3 -4 targeted races each year, Biweekly training sessions and frequent social activities are the focus of this program.
